Lou is a lifelong resident of Upper Darby Township and a graduate of UDHS.She attended Villanova University College while working full time for Bell Telephone and then AT&T.

After 16 years, she left to start her own business, Unique Treats, a take-out food store on Shadeland Avenue in Drexel Hill. Unique Treats grew into a full-service catering company which acquired the food service contract for a banquet space atop the Bell Atlantic Building in center city Philadelphia. Lou managed Top of the Tower for 23 years and ultimately owned 48% of the business.

Lou has always believed in community service. She was on the Board of Session for Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church and was also a member of the Upper Darby School Board where she served for several years and was fortunate enough to be elected as President. She started a 501(c3), Time for Teens, which provided comprehensive bullying prevention programs for middle and elementary school girls.
